ILG Community Assistance Team Update
Take a look at what’s been keeping the ILG Community Assistance Team busy lately:
Haiti Relief through Samaritan’s Purse
ILG employees raised $1,560 in an effort to help Samaritan’s Purse with their Haiti Relief efforts. Samaritan’s Purse Haiti initiatives included:
-Staff members, including doctors, setting up a site with a partnering hospital
-Clean water by bringing in filtration systems to purify the water they have there (quicker and more cost effective than bringing in clean water)
- Setting up temporary shelters with tarps
- Blankets
- Hygiene Kits
- Medical Supplies
ILG is very appreciative of all the organizations that helped out with the relief and was excited to be able to contribute to a local charity assisting.
East Burke Christian Ministries Storage Building
The ILG Community Assistance Team completed their project of building an outbuilding for East Burke Christian Ministries. With the help of East Burke High School, an 8×12 foot building with shingle rook and siding was help to provide excess storage space for all the materials that EBCM provides for the community.
March of Dimes, March for Babies Walk
ILG’s Community Assistance team monthly initiative for March was to support March of Dimes by participating in the March for Babies walk on May 1st at Hickory High School! A team of ILG employees along with their family and friends represented ILG at the walk and had a great time together outside of the office while supporting a great cause!
A fundraising goal of $2,000 was set to raise and through online donations, payroll deductions, and ILG’s Community Assistance team match of $.50 for each $1.00 donated by ILG employees, ILG exceeded their goal and raised $2,040! A big THANK YOU to all involved and for supporting this effort!
ILG CAT chose the March for Babies because the March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in our community and across the nation. By walking and raising money, we helped support:
- Research into why premature birth happens and how it can be prevented
- Education to help women have healthy pregnancies and recognize the signs of preterm labor
- Assistance for health care providers in better identifying women at risk for premature birth
- Help for pregnant women with questions and concerns about pregnancy
- Provide comfort and information to families with a newborn in intensive care
